Skudai

Skudai is a residential suburb in Iskandar Puteri comprising several neighborhoods with schools, shopping centers, and apartment complexes spread across the area. The Skudai River runs through the region, and local roads connect the different sections to form a cohesive living space.

The area was originally known as Scudai and received its current name in 1973 during a period of rapid expansion. This renaming coincided with major development that transformed the region from a small settlement into a growing suburb.

The population distribution reflects Malaysia's diversity with 65 percent Chinese residents, 22 percent Malay residents, and 12 percent Indian residents.

Federal Route 1 provides direct road access to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, while local buses connect residential areas to the main train station. The suburb is well-served by regional transportation making it easy to travel within and beyond the area.

The area is home to the main campus of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, one of the country's leading technical universities. The institution significantly shapes the character and activities of the suburb.
