Kulai District

Kulai District is located north of Johor Bahru and includes Kulai Town, Senai, and several other settlements spread across the area. The region is dominated by agricultural landscapes and serves as a major transportation hub for the state.

Chinese Hakka immigrants settled here in the late 1800s and shaped early development of the region. The area later became a center for agricultural expansion and modernized plantation practices throughout the 20th century.

Agriculture shapes daily life here, with palm and rubber plantations forming the backbone of the local economy and the way the landscape is organized.

The North-South Expressway provides the main connection to the region and allows quick access to major cities. Senai International Airport offers a convenient arrival point for travelers coming from farther away.

The area is home to one of Malaysia's pioneering land settlement schemes that became a model for agricultural development across Southeast Asia. This program demonstrated how organized settlement could open up new farming areas for smallholders.
