Tobotronc, Alpine coaster in Sant Julià de Lòria, Andorra

Tobotronc is a summer toboggan run in Sant Julià de Lòria that winds through forest terrain on a long track. You steer your own sled and control your speed as you descend through different sections of the course.

The Tobotronc opened in 2007 according to its German operator, though the Catalan Wikipedia gives 2008. It was built by the German firm Wiegand, specialised in alpine coasters, at a cost of three million euros. Since opening it has recorded numerous accidents, including a 2018 case in which the Andorran High Court found the park negligent and awarded 15,200 euros to an injured rider.

The sleds run on four-tube steel rails through the La Rabassa forest, and riders brake with hand levers gripping the two inner tubes. The park's operator is the Comú de Sant Julià de Lòria, the parish government, which runs the ride in the Naturlandia park. The German firm Wiegand built the track, which cost three million euros.

Visit during dry weather, as wet conditions can affect operations and the ride experience. Coming in the morning or early afternoon helps you avoid busy times and makes the most of your day.

The sleds are hauled uphill by wire cables running beneath the rails, so the same track carries riders both ways. At the bottom station, automatic eddy-current brakes stop arriving sleds. The ride was built by the German firm Wiegand and cost three million euros.
