Església de Sant Serni de Nagol, Romanesque Catholic church in Sant Julià de Lòria, Andorra.
Església de Sant Serni de Nagol is a Romanesque church with a rectangular nave and semicircular apse, characterized by thick stone walls and rounded arches throughout its structure. The interior features primitive lime plaster and preserved wall paintings that maintain the original appearance.
The building dates to the 11th century, with a consecration document from 1050 confirming its early origins. It received official recognition as a protected heritage monument in 2003.
The church preserves original altars and Romanesque wall paintings visible in the eastern apse and along the northern wall. These artistic elements show how worshippers shaped the sacred space over the centuries.
A hiking trail of about 1.4 kilometers leads from Terra Bogada playground to the church, gaining approximately 105 meters in elevation. The route follows a clear path through the mountain landscape and requires moderate physical fitness.
A retable from the first half of the 16th century dedicated to Sant Serni occupies a central place in the interior. This carved wooden work displays the craftsmanship of that era and remains remarkably well preserved.
