Nasca Province

Nasca Province is an administrative division in Ica Department consisting of five districts, with Nazca city serving as the provincial capital. The territory is dominated by desert landscape with varying terrain features and natural formations.

Between 100 BC and 800 AD, a major civilization flourished here, creating immense ground drawings and developing sophisticated irrigation methods. This period left a lasting mark on the region and established it as an important center of ancient culture.

The province holds several museums where visitors can see ancient pottery, weavings, and objects that reveal the skill and knowledge of past civilizations. These collections show how sophisticated the craftsmanship was in earlier times.

The province is best reached via the Pan-American Highway, which provides straightforward access to the region. Most hotels and services are located in Nazca, the administrative center, making it the logical base for exploring the area.

Beneath the surface lie the Cantalloc Aqueducts, an ancient water system built centuries ago that remains functional today. This hidden feat of engineering reveals how ingeniously the past inhabitants managed water in this arid land.
