Rose Tower is a 72-storey, 333 m hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. Its facade combines two tones of blue and silver mirrored glass with gold ornamentation, and a narrow panel of oculiform gold rings runs up the centre of each elevation. Each side has two convex cylindrical forms that fold into one another, and the sections flatten toward a sculptural peak of intersecting petals topped by a sphere and a spire. It holds 462 rooms, suites and penthouses.
Construction began in June 2004 and was completed in July 2007, with the official opening ceremony taking place in December 2009. The project emerged during a period of rapid skyscraper development across Dubai.
The hotel's name links it to the Rose Rayhaan by Rotana brand, and it opened as one of the first major alcohol-free hotel brands in Dubai. It has two restaurants and a 24-hour coffee shop, so dining takes place without alcohol service. The crown of intersecting petals, topped by a sphere, refers to the building's informal name, "The Rose."
The tower stands directly on Sheikh Zayed Road, the main artery running through Dubai, so it is reached by car or taxi rather than on foot. The hotel is alcohol-free, with two restaurants and a 24-hour coffee shop on site. Guests move between the 72 floors by lift; the building has no direct metro entrance of its own.
The tower was designed at 380 m but reduced to 333 m, and on 24 October 2006 the spire brought it to full height, passing the nearby 321 m Burj Al Arab. Its crown of intersecting petals, topped by a sphere, refers to the building's informal name, "The Rose."
