Chelsea Tower, Residential skyscraper on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai
Chelsea Tower is a residential skyscraper on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai with 49 floors and postmodern design. The building combines private apartments and hotel rooms managed by SRG Hospitality.
The skyscraper was built between 2003 and 2005 during a period of rapid vertical growth in Dubai. It originally carried the name Al Salam Tower II before being renamed during construction.
The structure stands as an example of Dubai's transformation from a desert trading port into a global center of architectural innovation and urban development.
The tower sits on Sheikh Zayed Road and is easy to locate by its position on this major thoroughfare. Access to residential units differs from the public hotel areas within the building.
The building unusually combines long-term residences with a hotel operation under one roof, a mixed-use approach that was relatively uncommon when it was completed. This type of building model helped set a trend for similar developments later on Sheikh Zayed Road.
