Mall of the Emirates, Shopping mall in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Mall of the Emirates is a shopping center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, spread across three levels with more than 600 stores, around 100 dining venues, and numerous luxury boutiques. The complex sits along Sheikh Zayed Road and offers direct connections to adjacent hotels as well as multiple entrances for pedestrians and drivers.
Construction began in October 2003 and the center opened to the public in September 2005. The facility was designed by an American architectural firm and blends Arabic with Mediterranean design elements.
The name combines Western consumer culture with an Arabic city reference, reflecting Dubai's international outlook. Visitors experience a mix of global brands and regional stores in a climate-controlled environment where locals and travelers gather alike.
The center sits at the fourth interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road and provides around 900 parking spaces for visitors arriving by car. Pedestrians reach the entrance areas through several access points that also connect directly to neighboring hotels.
Inside the complex sits Ski Dubai, a winter sports facility with real ski slopes, snowboarding areas, and a snow park under one roof. This facility was the first of its kind in the Middle East and allows visitors to ski in sub-zero temperatures in the desert.
