Al Sufouh Archaeological Site, Bronze Age archaeological site in Al Sufouh, United Arab Emirates
Al Sufouh is an archaeological site containing the remains of a circular burial structure from the Bronze Age. The monument measures roughly 6.5 meters across and is divided into separate chambers where pottery, bronze objects, and other items were found.
The burial structure dates to between 2500 and 2000 BCE and belongs to the Umm Al-Nar culture. Excavations in the 1990s revealed the monument and provided information about this early population in the region.
The site shows how Bronze Age people honored their dead and valued certain objects enough to bury them together. The pottery and beads found here offer insight into what mattered to this ancient community.
The site is accessed via clear pathways that make orientation straightforward and allow visitors to explore the grounds safely. Visitors should come prepared for open-air conditions, as sun and wind exposure varies throughout the day and across seasons.
The interior is divided by an internal wall that separates the structure into two distinct halves, each subdivided into smaller spaces. This unusual layout may reflect different functions or roles in how burials were conducted in this community.
