Al Kazim Towers, Art Deco towers in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The Business Central Towers, originally named Al Kazim Towers, are a pair of twin office towers in Dubai Media City, each 265 metres (869 ft) tall. The two towers differ in floor count between sources: 51 floors in the English article, 53 in the German one. Their arched crown echoes New York's Chrysler Building, and they were topped out in November 2007 and completed in early 2008.
Originally named Al Kazim Tower Towers, the two towers were topped out in November 2007 and completed in early 2008. They were later renamed Business Central Towers, a name chosen to be more welcoming to the foreign companies occupying the offices.
The name Al Kazim Towers was dropped in favour of Business Central Towers because the original was judged less welcoming to the foreign companies renting space there. The towers stand in Dubai Media City, a district given over to media businesses, and their offices are occupied almost entirely by companies rather than residents.
The towers are easy to view from the surrounding streets, as their geometric facade remains visible from different angles around the buildings. The location in the commercial district means the best views are available from ground level, especially in late afternoon when light highlights the vertical lines.
The towers were first called Al Kazim Tower Towers, then renamed Business Central Towers to suit the foreign firms leasing space. Their arched crown, borrowed from New York's Chrysler Building, is the detail to look for at the top of each 265-metre shaft.
