Six Senses Residences, Residential skyscraper in Dubai Marina, United Arab Emirates
Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina, formerly the Pentominium, is a 122-storey tower under construction, designed by Andrew Bromberg of Aedas and redesigned by Woods Bagot. Its pale grey-blue glass facade is a dense grid of horizontal bands; the left edge rises straight while the right steps in offset blocks toward a pointed summit. Six projecting volumes on the facade read as half-open drawers, alternating apartments with hanging gardens.
Construction began in 2008 and reached 22 floors by 2011 when work paused due to financial difficulties during the global economic crisis. The Select Group acquired the project in 2023 and renamed it Six Senses Residences, with building resuming in 2024.
The name Pentominium combines "penthouse" and "condominium", coined for a tower where each floor was planned as a single four-bedroom apartment of over 600 m2. The architect Andrew Bromberg of Aedas described the six projecting bays, formed by alternating homes and hanging gardens, as an inner "lung" for the dense marina context.
The tower is an unfinished construction site in Dubai Marina, not open to visitors; work stopped in August 2011 at around the 25th floor and restarted in 2024, with completion expected by 2028. The concrete core of the lower section and the steel structure planned above it can be seen from the surrounding marina walkways.
The project was acquired by Select Group in 2023 and renamed Six Senses Residences, signaling a shift toward luxury residential development. This rebrand represents a fresh direction for what was once a stalled construction site.
