Marina 101, Skyscraper in Dubai Marina, United Arab Emirates
Marina 101 stands in the Dubai Marina district and rises 425 meters (1,394 feet) across 101 floors, making it the second tallest building in the country after Burj Khalifa. The building divides into a hotel section with 281 rooms occupying the lowest 33 stories and residential areas above with a total of 498 apartments of different sizes.
Construction began in November 2006 but encountered financial difficulties when the developer Sheffield Holdings Limited faced capital shortages. Despite these obstacles, the tower was completed and now stands as one of the most prominent high-rises in Dubai Marina.
The tower follows high-tech construction and postmodern architecture, two movements that merged in Dubai during the 2000s. The lower floors host a rock-themed hotel welcoming visitors, while apartments fill the upper stories.
The best views of the tower come from the waterfront promenade or the opposite sections of the marina. Visitors interested in the hotel will find the entrance at ground level, while residential areas have separate access points.
The 101st floor houses a club lounge, restaurant, and merchandise shop, all accessible to guests of the complex. This top level sits near the summit of the tower and offers one of the highest viewing positions in the marina.
