Dubai International Terminal 3, Airport terminal in Al Garhoud, United Arab Emirates
Dubai International Terminal 3 is a large facility in Al Garhoud that spans several levels and includes underground parking facilities. The structure connects departure zones with shops, restaurants, and waiting areas through wide corridors and open halls.
Construction work began in November 2004 and the terminal opened in October 2008. The facility was built in response to growing passenger traffic in the region and the expansion of local airlines.
The building displays artworks and installations in its waiting areas, combining traditional motifs from the region with contemporary design forms. Visitors see depictions of desert landscapes and maritime history alongside modern sculptures.
Arrival and departure zones are located on separate levels, with visitor areas on the ground floor. A direct metro connection makes it easy to reach from different parts of the city without transfers.
The terminal uses an automated baggage conveyor system that moves suitcases through several kilometers of underground tunnels. The entire air conditioning system consumes as much energy daily as a mid-sized city to keep the indoor temperature constant.
