Al Garhoud Bridge, Road bridge over Dubai Creek in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Al Garhoud Bridge is a road bridge crossing Dubai Creek and connecting the areas on both sides of the waterway. It features 14 traffic lanes and rises approximately 16 meters above the water to allow larger vessels to pass underneath.
The first Al Garhoud Bridge opened in 1976 as the second crossing over Dubai Creek at that time. The current structure replaced the original bridge during a renovation period from 2006 to 2008.
The bridge reflects Dubai's blend of modern design with local landscape features in its physical form. The pier shapes and wave patterns on the underside echo the natural elements of the surrounding desert and waterfront.
The bridge functions as a major traffic corridor and uses the Salik toll system for vehicle charges. Visitors should note that the crossing can be very busy during peak hours and traffic often moves slowly.
After dark the bridge is illuminated by over 1,000 LED lights that create an interplay of blue and white tones. These lights highlight both the wave patterns and sand dune forms, producing visual effects that can shift throughout the evening.
