Al Thuqeibah

The excavation site contains multiple residential structures and a water well from the Iron Age period near the town of Al Madam.

Archaeological teams from the Autonomous University of Madrid conducted excavations during the 1990s, uncovering settlement remains dating from 1100 to 400 BC.

The settlement reveals evidence of both livestock keeping and hunting activities, with numerous arrowheads and bronze tools indicating diverse economic practices.

The site lies 80 kilometers from the coast at a natural crossing point of the Hajar Mountains, making it accessible for research and educational visits.

Despite its inland location, archaeological findings indicate that residents consumed substantial amounts of sea fish, suggesting established trade routes with coastal areas.
