National Museum of Afghanistan, Museum in Afghanistan
The National Museum of Afghanistan, also known as the Kabul Museum, holds many treasures of the Afghan cultural heritage.
Founded in 1922 during the reign of King Amanullah Khan, the museum has had a tumultuous history.
The collection includes artifacts from the Stone Age, early Islamic artifacts, as well as Buddhist art.
Devastated by civil war, the museum has since been rehabilitated and is a source of national pride.
Once home to the famed Bactrian Gold, the museum's items showcase the rich crossroads of civilizations in Afghanistan.
