White Drin, River system in western Kosovo
The White Drin is a river system in western Kosovo that flows for approximately 140 kilometers, beginning at the southern slopes of Zhleb mountain and continuing toward northern Albania. The river cuts through deep canyons, creating striking geological formations along its course.
The river played a role in regional development, particularly after 1934 when a hydroelectric power plant was built near the waterfall. This facility supplied electricity to Peja town and marked a turning point in the area's modern energy infrastructure.
The Fshajt Bridge, an Ottoman structure spanning the canyon, hosts annual diving competitions that bring communities together from surrounding areas.
Multiple access points allow activities such as fishing and swimming, with a restaurant in the canyon offering fresh fish from its waters. The best time to visit is during warmer months when water conditions are most inviting.
Near its source, the river forms a waterfall beside the Bukuroshja e Fjetur Cave, which contains an underground lake. This location brings together flowing water and hidden cave formations, attracting visitors who enjoy exploring both natural features.
