Ohrid-Prespa Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, Transboundary biosphere reserve between Albania and North Macedonia.
The reserve encompasses 446,244 hectares of diverse landscapes, including Lake Ohrid, Lake Prespa, and surrounding mountain ranges with deciduous forests.
UNESCO designated this area as a biosphere reserve in 2014 during an international commission session in Jönköping, Sweden.
The region supports 455,000 residents across multiple cities, including Ohrid, Struga, Resen, Korçë, Pogradec, and Bilisht, representing different ethnic groups.
Visitors can participate in hiking, birdwatching, and exploring archaeological sites while learning about conservation efforts throughout the protected area.
The lakes contain over 1,200 native species, with 212 endemic species, including the Ohrid trout and numerous freshwater organisms from the Tertiary Period.
