Zvartnots International Airport, International airport in Zvartnots, Armenia
Zvartnots International Airport is Armenia's main aviation hub, located approximately 12 kilometers west of the capital Yerevan. The terminal offers check-in areas, shops, and lounges for travelers connecting the country to destinations worldwide.
Operations began in 1961 during the Soviet period, and the first terminal building opened in 1970 following an architectural competition. Armenian architects won the competition and designed the original structure.
The facility represents a central transportation hub connecting Armenia to global destinations, enabling cultural exchanges between the Caucasus region and international communities.
Express buses run every 30 minutes between 7 AM and 11 PM, linking the terminal to downtown Yerevan and metro stations. Travelers with heavy luggage will find taxi stands directly outside the terminal building.
In March 2024, Armenia removed Russian border guards who had been stationed at the facility. This change marked a shift in the security arrangements at the site.
