Hayravank Monastery

The monastery complex includes a church with four semi-circular apses, a chapel, and a gavit situated along the southwestern shores of Lake Sevan.

The construction of Hayravank began in the ninth century, with additions of a chapel in the tenth century and a gavit in the twelfth century.

Multiple khachkars and gravestones surrounding the monastery form a cemetery, representing traditional Armenian religious stone art and burial customs.

Located at an elevation of 1911 meters, the monastery provides direct access to Lake Sevan and maintains regular visiting hours for religious services.

The gavit features an early example of polychrome masonry design, alternating between reddish and gray tufa stones in a distinctive pattern.
