Sanahin Bridge, Medieval bridge in Alaverdi, Armenia.

The Sanahin Bridge spans the Debed River with a single arch made of polished basalt stones, measuring 18.6 meters in length and 3.3 meters wide.

Queen Vaneni commissioned the construction of this bridge in the 12th century to transport her deceased husband's body to their family burial grounds.

Four stone lions guard the corners of the bridge's parapet, representing protection according to Armenian architectural traditions of the medieval period.

The bridge connects two sections of Alaverdi town across the Debed canyon, with the left bank positioned lower than the right bank.

Alexander Tamanyan, the architect of Yerevan's first general plan, supervised the reinforcement of the bridge's left foundation between 1928 and 1929.
