Dashtadem Fortress, Medieval fortress in Aragatsotn Province, Armenia
The fortress contains an octagonal defensive wall with eight bastions, including seven polygonal structures and one semi-circular bastion facing north.
Construction of the fortress spans from the 5th to 19th centuries, with the main keep established between the 9th and 10th centuries.
The entrance features stone carvings of lions above the arched gateway, demonstrating medieval Armenian architectural decoration techniques.
Located 73 kilometers from Yerevan, the fortress can be accessed through the Talin-Qarakert road with ongoing restoration work funded by 270 million dram.
The fortress includes underground cisterns and tunnels beneath its four semi-circular towers, which were added to earlier Armenian fortifications.
