Cabinda Province

Cabinda Province spans 7,290 square kilometers along the Atlantic coast, separated from mainland Angola by territories of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The province emerged from three kingdoms - N'Goyo, Loango, and Kakongo - before becoming a Portuguese protectorate through the Treaty of Simulambuco in 1885.

The population includes multiple ethnic groups such as Bakongo, Kimbundu, and Chokwe, each maintaining their languages, traditions, and annual celebrations within the province.

The provincial capital, Cabinda City, contains 87 percent of the total population and connects to other regions through national flights and road networks.

The province generates 60 percent of Angola's total oil production, extracting approximately 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day through offshore platforms.
