Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel, Calbuco

The Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel stands with a 30-meter tower and measures 33 meters in length and 19 meters in width.

The first parish church was established in 1620 by Bishop Luis Jerónimo de Oré near Fort San Miguel, which had existed since 1602.

The church holds the Chiefs Indians Festival each year, commemorating the local chiefs who returned the statue of Saint Michael after the 1712 Huilliche uprising.

The church maintains parish records dating from 1710, representing some of the oldest religious documentation in southern Chile.

Every September 28, the Luminarias Festival fills the church grounds with lights, continuing a tradition from the colonial period.
