Casa Pauly

Casa Pauly is a three-story wooden building fitted with imported European wallpaper and topped with metal sheet roofing. The rooms spread across multiple floors and showcase how prosperous residences were constructed during this period.

Construction began in 1903 under the direction of German entrepreneur Guillermo Pauly Gleisner during the German colonization period of southern Chile. It represents the economic development of the region and the influence of European settlers on local architecture and development.

The residence served as a gathering place for musicians and artists who performed and met within its walls. Its grand ground floor reflects how prominent families of the era valued cultural life and artistic expression in their homes.

The house is located in Puerto Montt's downtown area and is easy to reach on foot. The municipality acquired it in 2013 and has been working on restoration and converting it into a space for cultural activities.

The interior retains its original Art Nouveau decorations and displays a collection of Chilean and international artworks from the early 1900s. This artistic arrangement offers visitors a rare glimpse into the taste and connections of wealthy families to European culture.
