Casa Kuschel, Historical mansion in Puerto Varas, Chile.
Casa Kuschel features horizontal wooden panels on the first level, vertical panels on the second level, and includes a tower supported by two large tympanums.
Built between 1915 and 1917 as the residence of Franz Joseph Kuschel Gaber, the mansion underwent major renovations in the early 1990s and 2005-2007.
The mansion combines German architectural elements with neoclassical window treatments and neo-gothic elements in the eave supports, representing the German colonization in southern Chile.
The property spans 947 square meters at 299 Klenner Street, currently housing offices for the Pumalín and Conservación Patagónica Chile Foundations, plus a store and three departments.
The structure features a Byzantine-inspired dome covered in metal and crowned with a weathervane, complemented by ornate balconies, galleries, and observation points.
