Teatro del Lago is a 10,000 m² theatre and concert hall on the shore of Llanquihue Lake in Frutillar. Its exterior is clad in wooden slats of different colours, inspired by Chiloé architecture. Inside, the Espacio Tronador-Sala Nestlé seats 1,178 in a stalls and two galleries, with space for 100 musicians in the pit, and its structure is lined with about 800 veneered wood panels. There is also a 270-seat amphitheatre and four multipurpose rooms.

The Hotel Frutillar burned down in 1996, leaving the Semanas Musicales de Frutillar without a venue. Businessman Guillermo Schiess proposed a new theatre, and construction began on 27 January 1998. After Schiess died in 1998, his family continued the project; the theatre opened on 6 November 2010 after twelve years and about US$20 million.

The theatre was built to give the Semanas Musicales de Frutillar a permanent home after the Hotel Frutillar burned down in 1996; the festival is held each year between late January and early February and is the largest classical music festival in Chile. The foyer Volcán Osorno holds a bust of Guillermo Schiess, placed there by his children in late 2010 on a trunk brought from his house in Santiago.

The building covers 10,000 m² on the shore of Llanquihue Lake. The main hall, Espacio Tronador-Sala Nestlé, seats 1,178 across a stalls floor and two galleries, and the amphitheatre holds 270. The foyer Volcán Osorno holds a bust of Guillermo Schiess set on a tree trunk brought from his house in Santiago.

International artists of established reputation regularly teach master classes here, supporting musical education in the region. This connection to major music centers worldwide makes the space more than just a local venue.
