The Teatro Municipal del Cusco stands on Meson de la Estrella street with a relocated colonial facade from the 17th century San Andrés Hospital.
Built in 1933 as Cinema Italia, the structure later became Cinema Teatro Colón before its transformation into the current municipal theatre in 1992.
The theatre functions as the primary venue for the Cusco Symphony Orchestra and presents numerous performances that reflect Peruvian artistic traditions.
The theatre contains 771 seats and operates under the management of the Regional Cultural Directorate of Cusco rather than the municipal government.
The entrance incorporates architectural elements from a colonial hospital, creating a connection between modern cultural activities and historical heritage.
