Callangate, Mountain summit in Cusco Region, Peru
Qullpa Ananta is a mountain summit in the Vilcanota range located in Cusco Region, rising to 6,110 meters above sea level. The peak stands in Quispicanchi Province and dominates the surrounding Andean landscape.
The peak remains unclimbed throughout recorded history, standing as one of the few untouched summits in the Peruvian Andes. This isolation has kept it sheltered from major human impact over centuries.
The name derives from Aymara and Quechua languages, showing how indigenous peoples of the Andes have long viewed and named their mountains. This linguistic heritage remains alive in how locals refer to the peaks around them.
Climbing expeditions demand extensive high-altitude mountaineering experience and specialized alpine equipment due to severe conditions above 6,000 meters. Visitors planning an attempt must prepare extensively for extreme elevation challenges and unpredictable weather.
The summit ranks as the second-highest peak in Cusco Region and among Peru's tallest mountains overall. Its proximity to the even higher Ausangate makes this a region of particularly remote and formidable terrain.
