Pachacamac, Archaeological site in Peru
Pachacamac is a pre-Inca archaeological site located roughly 40 km southeast of Lima, Peru.
The site was first settled around A.D. 200 and it was named after the 'Earth Maker' god Pacha Kamaq.
It was a major ceremonial center in pre-Columbian times, attracting pilgrims from far and wide.
Today, it's a popular tourist destination, featuring a museum that houses artifacts found at the site.
Despite its age, the site still contains a fully intact pyramid, known as the Temple of the Sun.
