Chorrillos District, Coastal district in Lima, Peru

Chorrillos District stretches along the Pacific coast with beaches, natural reserves, and residential neighborhoods. The Morro Solar hill rises prominently from the shoreline, giving the area its distinctive profile.

The area was originally a pre-Columbian settlement called Armatambo and later developed into a fishing village. In 1857 it became an official district of Lima.

The Morro Solar hill features an astronomical observatory and memorial cross, with yearly celebrations honoring San Pedro, the patron saint of fishermen. These traditions reflect how fishing heritage has shaped the community's identity.

The district connects to central Lima through public transportation, including metro lines. Beaches, dining options, and the Los Pantanos de Villa nature reserve are easily accessible.

The Los Pantanos de Villa wetland is a protected area where visitors can observe over 210 species of migratory birds. This reserve serves as a crucial stopover point for birds traveling along the Pacific coast.
