Morro Solar Planetarium, Digital planetarium in Chorrillos district, Lima, Peru.
Morro Solar Planetarium is a digital dome in Lima equipped with advanced projection technology to display celestial bodies and space phenomena. The facility also contains natural science collections, including fossils and meteorites from different geological periods.
The facility was founded by Peruvian engineers who designed an optical projection system initially operated by engineer José Castro Mendívil. Later it evolved into a modern digital installation with expanded capabilities for displaying celestial information.
The site holds archaeological objects from the Ichma culture and astronomy-related paintings that reveal how Andean societies observed the heavens. These pieces show how celestial events shaped the knowledge and beliefs of people who lived in this region long ago.
Visitors should arrive during official opening hours and keep in mind that shows take place inside a dark dome. It helps to check beforehand how long a presentation lasts so you can plan your time accordingly.
The collection includes Lower Cretaceous fossils and various meteorites that show how Earth developed over millions of years. These objects offer a tangible look at the natural history of our planet and the cosmos.
