Parque Central de Miraflores, Urban park in Miraflores, Peru.
Parque Central de Miraflores is a park in the district of the same name in Lima, with lawns, walkways, benches, and sculptures spread across roughly 22,000 square meters (5.4 acres). An amphitheater sits at the center, surrounded by tall trees and open areas accessible from the main streets.
The land served agricultural purposes in pre-Columbian times and gradually transformed into a meeting place after the district of Miraflores was founded in 1857. The current layout with pathways and planted areas took shape during the 20th century.
Musicians and dancers perform traditional Peruvian pieces at the amphitheater, giving visitors a direct experience of local arts. Families and friends sit on the steps or on the grass to follow the performances under the open sky.
The park borders shopping districts, restaurants, and the Virgen Milagrosa Church, making it easy to combine a visit with other activities in the district. Several entrances from the surrounding streets simplify arrival by public transport.
A community of cats lives freely in the park, cared for by local organizations that manage feeding and adoption. Visitors often see feeding stations and small shelters set up by volunteers.
