Miraflores, Residential district in Lima, Peru
Miraflores is a district in Lima province, Peru, stretching along the Pacific coast and connecting residential buildings with commercial areas. Wide avenues run through the area, passing green spaces and multi-story structures that spread toward the cliffs above the sea.
The district earned the title Ciudad Heroica after the Battle of Miraflores during the War of the Pacific in the late 19th century. During the second half of the 20th century, the area grew from a quiet coastal settlement into a modern residential neighborhood.
The name derives from Spanish meaning "flower view", though today the area welcomes joggers and families who spend evenings in the parks along the ocean cliffs. Cafés spill onto sidewalks where people meet after work, turning the district into a social hub as daylight fades.
Visitors move most easily through the area during daytime hours when shops open and pedestrian paths feel active. The promenade along the cliffs offers wheelchair-friendly routes with ramps and benches for resting.
In Parque Kennedy, a community of street cats lives among the benches and flower beds, fed and looked after by neighbors. Volunteers organize veterinary care and ensure the animals remain part of the neighborhood fabric.
