Barranco District, Bohemian district in Lima, Peru

The Barranco district stretches along the Pacific coast, featuring colonial mansions, art galleries, restaurants, and the wooden Bridge of Sighs walkway.

Spanish settlers established Barranco in 1874, developing it from a fishermen's village into a seaside resort for Lima's upper class during the 19th century.

The district contains three major museums: the Electricity Museum, Pedro de Osma Museum with colonial artworks, and MATE displaying Mario Testino photography.

The district connects to central Lima through the Via Expresa highway, with numerous restaurants and bars concentrated around the Municipal Park area.

The Bajada de los Baños pathway, constructed in 1870, leads visitors from the cliff-top district down to the Pacific Ocean beaches.
