Lomas del Mirador, city in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina
Lomas del Mirador is a city in La Matanza, southwest of Buenos Aires. The area spans about five square kilometers with gently rolling terrain and is defined mainly by its main avenues like Avenida General Paz and Avenida San Martín, where shops, small workshops, and homes blend together.
The place grew around a large estate called Mirador Santa Lucía, which had a distinctive observation tower that gave the area its name. Land sales began in 1909, starting the neighborhood's development, and in 1984 the locality was officially recognized as a city after separating from San Justo.
The name comes from an old tower that once stood on a large estate and defined the area's character. Today, this heritage lives on through street names and gathering places where residents maintain their everyday routines and community life.
The area is easily reached by car since several main roads like Route 3 and Avenida General Paz run through it. There is no train service, so buses and private vehicles are the main ways to get around.
The original observation tower was demolished in 1935, yet its name and memory still define the place and its identity. Many residents know the tower's story and reference it when discussing their neighborhood's character.
