Edificio Malecón, Office building in Puerto Madero, Argentina.
Edificio Malecón is a 13-story office building with a curved facade positioned at the southern end of Dock 1 in Puerto Madero. It features basement parking for vehicles, commercial spaces, and terraces with gardens accessible from the ground floor.
The land was purchased in 1992 and construction began in the mid-1990s with completion in 1999. This project was part of the broader redevelopment of the historic port district.
The structure won first prize at the CPAU-SCA Architecture Biennial in 2000 and became a reference point for modern commercial design in Buenos Aires. This recognition helped define how contemporary buildings would be built in the city.
Commercial spaces and gardens are accessible from the ground floor. Keep in mind this is primarily a business center, so hours and public access may vary depending on current operations.
The elevator tower stands separate from the main structure and incorporates natural lighting and ventilation throughout the building. This unusual design choice helps the entire building breathe more efficiently.
