Museo de la Uva y el Vino, Wine museum in Las Piedras, Uruguay

The Museo de la Uva y el Vino is a museum in Las Piedras that occupies spaces within a viticulture school, displaying exhibitions about wine production methods and local grape varieties. The facility documents all aspects of regional wine-making through its various collections and displays.

The MUV originated from an initiative of the Intendencia de Canelones through its Comisión Honoraria de Patrimonio, with support from the Proyecto Uruguay Integra and the European Community. It occupies the former cava of the Escuela Superior de Vitivinicultura, whose main building opened in 1944 and was designed by Julia Guarino, Latin America's first woman graduate in architecture (1923). Canelones protected the building from 2007, and in 2016 it was declared a National Historic Monument.

The museum occupies the old wine cellar of the Escuela Superior de Vitivinicultura, where Uruguay's oenologists have trained for over 80 years. Its collection includes a digitised archive of labels from local wineries and machinery used in vine growing and winemaking. Since 2020 the MUV has formed part of the Polo Vitivinícola Metropolitano alongside the school, INAVI and the Asociación de Enólogos del Uruguay.

The museum occupies the former wine cellar of the Escuela Superior de Vitivinicultura (UTU/ANEP) in Las Piedras, the wine capital of Uruguay, surrounded by vineyards. The building, inaugurated in 1944, has been a National Historical Monument since 2016. Visits are best arranged with the school or the Canelones municipality, since the museum shares the campus with a working educational institution.

The MUV holds a digitised collection of labels from local wineries, alongside machinery and equipment used in vine growing and winemaking. The building it occupies, the former cellar of the Escuela Superior de Vitivinicultura, was designed by Julia Guarino, the first woman to graduate as an architect in Latin America (1923).
