Los Cardales, human settlement in Argentina
Los Cardales is a small human settlement located across two administrative districts in Buenos Aires province. The town features quiet streets, green spaces for families, and a central plaza with large trees where residents and visitors gather.
The settlement began in 1902 when the railway station for the Ferrocarril Mitre line was built. This rail depot became the foundation for the town's growth and remains central to its layout today.
The town name comes from the thistles that once grew abundantly in this area. Today, Los Cardales serves as a gathering place where locals celebrate traditions like the June bonfire festival, where residents burn decorated figures and share hot chocolate together.
The town is walkable and has restaurants, cafes, and shops along its main streets. Weekends and during local festivals in December and June offer the most active atmosphere for visiting.
The town is known for its legendary Bar Di Yorio, established in 1925 and still housing antique objects like vinyl records and old cash registers. Over the decades, famous musicians and politicians have gathered at its tables.
