Cristo de la Concordia, Colossal statue of Jesus Christ on San Pedro Hill, Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Cristo de la Concordia is a colossal Jesus statue made of steel and concrete that rises from San Pedro Hill overlooking Cochabamba. The monument towers over the valley with outstretched arms that are visible from across the city.

The project began in the 1980s when two architects conceived the idea of a protective monument for the city. Construction started in 1987 and finished by 1994, establishing this spiritual landmark for generations to come.

The statue serves as a pilgrimage destination where visitors come to pray and seek spiritual connection. You will notice candles, flowers, and offerings left by devotees throughout the site.

You can reach the site either by climbing steps from the city center or by taking a cable car for a more comfortable route. Wear sturdy shoes and allow time to adjust to the altitude, since Cochabamba sits in the Andes mountains.

On Sundays the interior opens to visitors who can climb stairs to viewing platforms inside the arms of the monument. This access offers an unusual vantage point of the city from an elevation of nearly 2800 meters.
