Três Lagoas, Industrial municipality in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil
Três Lagoas is a municipality in Mato Grosso do Sul, western Brazil. The town sits at the meeting point of the Sucuriú and Paraná rivers and spreads across flat terrain dotted with industrial plants and green spaces.
Settlement began around 1880 when three pioneers arrived from other parts of Brazil. The municipality gained official status in 1915 and later grew into a center for pulp and paper production.
The name comes from three natural lakes that once defined the region before settlement began. Rodeos and local festivals today reflect the ranching traditions that shape daily life in this part of southern Brazil.
The town has an airport and railway connections to São Paulo and westward destinations. Roads connect to neighboring municipalities and onward to larger towns deeper inland.
Lagoa Maior sits close to the town center and recalls the original three lakes that gave the municipality its name. Today it serves as a spot for walking and watching local birdlife along the water.
