Parque Barigüi

Parque Barigüi is a large green space in the city with a lake, forests, sports fields, and walking paths spread across different landscapes. The grounds feature various areas for exercise, relaxation, and strolling throughout multiple sections.

The land was originally home to indigenous peoples before being transformed into a public park during Curitiba's urban growth in the 1970s. This conversion was part of the city's modernization efforts at that time.

The park offers tennis courts, soccer fields, exercise stations, and a paved path for running and cycling. Wear comfortable shoes and arrive early in the day when the grounds are less crowded.

Capybaras, the largest rodents in South America, roam freely across the grounds and visitors encounter them regularly. Meeting these peaceful animals is an unexpected highlight during a visit.
