Torre da Telepar, Telecommunications tower in Mercês district, Curitiba, Brazil

Torre da Telepar is a telecommunications tower in the Mercês district of Curitiba, completed in 1991. Its concrete shaft rises 109.5 metres to a stack of ringed galleries with railings, where white dishes are mounted; above them a wide circular platform with antenna panels sits under a curved roof. The shaft stands at 940.5 metres above sea level, and the observation deck at 95 metres has a diameter of 22.5 metres.

Construction of the tower began in 1989 and was completed in 1991, representing a major step forward in telecommunications infrastructure for Paraná state. This development helped modernize communications across the region.

Inside the tower hangs the "Painel Torre da Telepar", a mural by Curitiba-born artist Poty Lazzarotto. The tower's popular name, Torre das Mercês, comes from the neighbourhood where it stands. It is the only telephone tower in Brazil with an observation deck open to visitors.

The observation deck sits 95 meters up, reached by lift, and holds up to 62 people at once. Its 22.5-meter-wide ring gives a 360-degree view; on clear days the lake of Parque Barigui is visible to the west. The tower stands in the Mercês district at 940.5 meters above sea level.

The tower is the only telephone tower in Brazil with an observation deck open to visitors. Its 95-metre platform, 22.5 metres across and covering 329 m², holds up to 62 people at once, and inside the shaft hangs the "Painel Torre da Telepar" mural by Curitiba artist Poty Lazzarotto.
