Dracena, Municipality in western São Paulo, Brazil.
Dracena is a municipality in western São Paulo that occupies land at an elevation of approximately 421 meters. Parts of Rio do Peixe State Park, a large protected natural area, fall within its boundaries.
Four pioneers including Irio Spinaldi and João Vandramini founded the settlement in December 1945. It became an independent municipality when it separated from Lucélia in 1948.
The region hosts both Catholic and Protestant communities, with the Diocese of Marília serving as a spiritual center while evangelical churches play an increasing role in local religious life.
The terrain is gently rolling with good access to protected forest areas suitable for walking and exploring nature. Visiting during cooler months is advisable since summer heat can be quite intense in this region.
The location experiences significant temperature swings throughout the year, ranging from unusually cold nights to extreme heat. This climatic variability shapes the rhythm of seasons in ways that differ from much of central Brazil.
