Alphaville, Gated residential district in São Paulo metropolitan area, Brazil.
Alphaville is a residential area that spreads across parts of Barueri and Santana de Parnaíba within the São Paulo metropolitan region. The development consists of multiple gated communities built with private security systems and separate access roads.
Engineers founded this neighborhood in the 1970s as a planned community outside downtown São Paulo. The project grew from a single development into a large area containing dozens of separate residential compounds.
The neighborhood encompasses educational institutions, shopping centers, and multiple entertainment venues that serve both residents and the 150,000 daily visitors.
Access is mainly through the Castelo Branco Highway with several marked exits leading to different residential zones. Each compound has its own entrance with security checks at the gate.
The neighborhood takes its name from a French science fiction film released in 1965. Streets within the compounds often follow alphabetical order in their naming system.
