Liceu Coração de Jesus

The Liceu Coração de Jesus is a school in Campos Elísios in central São Paulo, featuring preserved classical architecture from the 19th century. The school was founded in 1885 by the Salesian Congregation and initially served as an arts and crafts institute for poor youth, including children of freed slaves and Italian immigrants. Over time it developed into a comprehensive educational center with religious focus.

In 1924, the school building sustained damage from bombardments during the São Paulo Uprising. Following this event, Saint Therese Church was constructed as a gesture of gratitude for the students' safety.
