Pedra Balão

Pedra Balão is a pyroclastic rock formation in the São Domingos mountain range consisting of large stacked stones reaching about 10 meters high. The site offers panoramic views across the surrounding landscape and operates as a privately managed location with visitor facilities.

The rock formation developed millions of years ago through volcanic processes that shaped the mineral-rich region of Poços de Caldas. These geological forces created the stacked stone formations visible today.

Local farmers maintain traditions at the site through activities like cow milking demonstrations and horseback riding experiences for visitors.

The site is accessed through privately managed grounds with a bar and souvenir shop on-site. Wear sturdy footwear for walking and allow time to reach the viewpoint at the top safely.

Wind and rain have carved distinctive patterns into the stones over long periods, creating carefully balanced rock formations. These natural erosion marks give the site its geological character.
