Sugarloaf Mountain, Granite and gneiss mountain in Urca, Brazil.

Sugarloaf Mountain rises 395 meters above Guanabara Bay, featuring two distinct peaks connected by cable cars that transport visitors to the summit.

The mountain served as a crucial navigation point for Portuguese sailors entering Guanabara Bay during the colonial period of Brazil in the 16th century.

The mountain's name derives from the shape of refined sugar blocks produced in Brazil's colonial sugar mills and transported throughout Europe.

Visitors can reach the mountain by taking the metro to Botafogo station and then catching bus 513 to the cable car station in Urca.

The cable car system, installed in 1912, connects three stations across two mountains, offering different elevation perspectives of Rio de Janeiro.
