Our Lady of Hope church
Our Lady of Hope church, Catholic church in Horto district, Ipatinga, Brazil.
Located on Avenida Castelo Branco, the church combines masonry construction on its front with wooden elements on its sides and rear sections.
The church was built in December 1959 by Usiminas workers in just 12 days to provide a place of worship for Christmas celebrations.
The church became the first parish of Ipatinga in 1960, marking the beginning of organized Catholic religious activities in the industrial district.
The building underwent extensive restoration between 2015 and 2016, replacing deteriorated wooden structures while maintaining its original architectural features.
The altar features a tree trunk with roots pointing upward, while the main altar, communion table, and baptismal font are made from local peroba wood.
