The site dates back to at least 2000 BC, making it one of the oldest known architectural structures in South America.
Kalasasaya is part of the Tiwanaku Site near Tiwanaku, Bolivia, which was an important regional power in the southern Andes.
The site is open to the public and can be visited as part of a tour of the Tiwanaku Site.
